Saint Laurent - Menswear Spring/Summer 2015 Collection in Paris

A chic and hippy spirit at Saint Laurent. Just like for the women, Hedi Slimane invites us to the Carreau du Temple in the center of Paris, for the Saint Laurent Paris menswear collection. A dark room, impressive games with light for the staging, and very loud but beautiful music (this time by Mystic Braves who composed the soundtrack especially for this show), have become routine procedure. The men always arrive with the same attitude; very thin and young with long hair and big hats. This time, the designer transports us to the seventies, from Morrocco to Spain, without of course forgetting to sprinkle some Yves Saint Laurent codes throughout the wardrobe. Suits, smoking jackets, adorned men’s waistcoats, biker jackets strewn with sequin stars, nonchalantly worn big foulards, capes or even luxurious versions of ponchos and of course djellabahs… the list is long and there appear numerous ideas for this always chic yet rock’n’roll wardrobe. The silhouettes keep on coming and the energy that exudes from this collection does not ebb, on the contrary it increases right up to the end which is as quick-witted and as shy as Hedi Slimane herself. Paul Smith- Menswear Spring/Summer 2015 Collection in Paris

Paul Smith scatters plants everywhere on stage as well as in his collection…just to simply put a little green into everyone’s life. Paul Smith strews Paris’ Bourse du Commerce with plants, putting a little green into everyone’s life. This is echoed in the wardrobe by lots of fluidity and suppleness, in the baggy trousers, the light jackets worn like shirts and the tunic blouses which can all just be slipped on. We of course even find some tropical plants too, such as lady-birds and bananas printed on jumpers, sweat-shirts and accessories. Leather fringes appear on some pieces or around the neck. Tones of blue run the show, and Paul also adds stripes that form a gradual shading of colours on t-shirts, shirts and lightly stitched jumpers. Sportswear appears in the collection with jogging bottoms and sweatshirts with zips on the side. An easy-to-wear wardrobe with good vibes, and just one word to conclude, ‘yeah,’ exactly likes the last t-shirt that closed the show. Music from the show.

A stylish lighteness at Lanvin.At Lanvin, the suit takes precedence, with a new approach, new volume and of course a new attitude. The two doors (one small and one big) at the entrance of the podium in Ecole des Beaux-Arts symbolize the multiple possibilities on offer to men, along with all of the constraints that these may mean. Lucas Ossendrijver and Alber Elbaz try to adapt to new demands and offer to lighten the silhouette as much as possible. This occurs through bi-material jackets with cotton veil on the back or jackets in an unconstructed cut and rolled up sleeves. After lightness, comfort appears to be another central element of the collection. The sartorial and informal spirit makes way for urban sportswear, with laced leather shirts and hooded jackets tucked into high waist trousers. Some new classics for a Lanvin wardrobe that is well entrenched in its era.

Hermès - Menswear Spring/Summer 2015 Collection in Paris

A charming nonchalance in the new Hermès men's collection.Despite the rain that falls on the gardens of the Ecole de Medecine, the Hermès collection still exudes a solar energy, in particular brought from the abundant prints which constitute this summery men’s wardrobe. Graphic or floral themes adorn jacket shirts, buttoned t-shirts and large or narrow jogging bottoms. A lightness is also present in jackets or sweatshirts in a cotton calque canvas effect, or spinnaker canvas windbreakers. A knitted nubuck leather jumper and croco hooded sweatshirts demonstrate once again how this label holds savoir-faire in this realm. The palette of colours, composed of white chalk, sand and slate is brightened up by cumin, eucalyptus, and pumpkin orange, creating a beautiful effect. Veronique Nichanian renders these men, who walk sheltered from the rain by the arcades of this old cloister, elegant with a seductive nonchalance.

Givenchy - Menswear Spring/Summer 2015 Collection in Paris

A black and romantic atmosphere at Givenchy... The decoration in the Halle Freyssinet consists of an old dismembered Cessna which hangs suspended in the centre. Heavy, repetitive music makes for a peculiar atmosphere and leads you to think that something dramatic has just happened. However its more about warriors than survivors, walking confidently toward and then around the plane with black hair covers and dressed in short black costumes with contrasting white collared shirts. Then prints that give an all-over look of smudges or tiny flowers come hurtling onto the scene, along with a large belt that encircle these silhouettes that look like an open-sided skirts. Stuck to the shirts, the overcoats, and the back of a jacket are bands that look like stickers, giving the clothes a graphic modernity. Transparent jumpers help to lighten the silhouettes and are worn on top of the outfits, and the prints become bigger and bigger over the course of the collection until they are covered entirely with beads.

An urban sailor takes over the podium at Dior Homme. At Christian Dior, Kris Van Assche gives pride of place to an urban sailor adorned in his most beautiful costume. The wardrobe is awash firstly with tennis stripes before evolving into a more artistic range, with dashes of multi-coloured pencil appearing over the whole of the collection. The sartorial spirit then takes a direction into sportswear, with faded denim cut trousers and jackets.

Paris lies at the heart of the Kenzo collection, designed by Carol Lim and Humberto Leon.Kenzo celebrates Paris... in the rain. And the show that was intended to be outside is, however, a little less spectacular, but not so much… The models cross the Alexandre III bridge and go down the stairs to reach the length of the quay where the show takes place. In this latest collection Kenzo’s American artistic directors based in New York, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, illustrate Paris through their eyes, such as the Eiffel Tower, the river boats, etc. The new silhouette is dynamic, elegant trousers worn with fluid and loose pea jackets and parkas, making a reference to those Parisians who drive scooters, as do the biker cropped pants and shorts.
